Victorian Escape 2023
After a week of touring south into the Australia’s Alpine area earlier this year, we considered a long country drive north for 2023. However, the devastating wet season that replaced our normal Summer, Autumn and Winter has left many roads in a bad state. So, an epic drive into Victoria has been planned for March 2023.
We have organised five days of country driving, eight nights at great locations, two rest days and seven group dinners – one free night to select your own meals at several options.
We have limited rooms available.
Itinerary:
Saturday 18th March Canberra Welcome, Meet & Greet Dinner
Sunday 19th March Wangaratta Group Dinner
Monday 20th March Lakes Entrance Group Dinner
Tuesday 21st March Lakes Entrance Free Night
Wednesday 22nd March Yarra Valley Group Dinner
Thursday 23rd March Yarra Valley Group Dinner
Friday 24th March Albury Group Dinner
Saturday 25th March Canberra Awards & Farewell Dinner
Not being the Porsche Club of Canberra, it may seem strange to start and finish a Porsche Club NSW event in our National Capital. It has been difficult to locate suitable venues in the desired locations, each with good driving conditions and distances between, hence the common start/finish line, albeit different hotel venues.
From Canberra, we will head to Yass, then down the Hume to Gundagai, Adelong, Tumbarumba, crossing the border into Victoria and across country to Wangaratta.
The Great Alpine Rd, across Hotham Heights and through Omeo, will take us to Lakes Entrance for 2 nights, with a rest day in between.
Probably new roads for most of us, zig-zagging west, will see us in the Yarra Valley for another 2-night stop over.
Then we wind our way north to the border town of Albury, with an option to do the Mt Buller hillclimb route and return, before our final day of planned tour driving, following the Murray then across the range via Kiandra, Cooma to Canberra.
The Club has arranged top class group dinners on seven nights and secured special rates on accommodation, breakfast & parking at great venues. The cost to members when registering is for the seven dinners and two breakfast, only. Once registered and your payment received, we will advise you of the venues, rates and booking codes for you to make your own accommodation reservations. We suggest booking early to avoid disappointment as the venues are only holding rooms for a short time.
We are planning both the Welcome and Farewell Dinners to be extra special gastronomic affairs, which should be very memorable.
Our planned notes and route have us arriving at our new venues each drive day at around 3pm, after about 5 hours of actual driving (some days are a little more, some days less) plus various pit stops along the way - so plenty of time to relax before the night’s gathering at the bar, tell tall tales & enjoy a sumptuous dinner.
This event is restricted to Porsche vehicles only
The Price to register with the Club for the event is $752 per person.
Our estimate of your accommodation, breakfast and parking costs, for you to pay direct to the venues, is approx’ $2,100 per couple / $2,000 single. Some of our venues have accommodation upgrade options available.
Please, only register if you intend to complete the full event.
